Spain....getting there and day 1

So I'm off to my adventure in Europe! After getting to the airport and in line to check-in I realized I forgot my camera in my car. Luckily I found a pretty reasonably priced camera during my layover in Philly which allowed me to take this picture of the beautiful sunset while in the plane on the way to Spain.

Mis padres Espanoles (Paquita y Elias) were at the airport to pick me up and helped me to get settled and then we were off to "Las Ferias" that is a carnival held to celebrate the patron Saint of Alcala de Henares where they live. It was a lot like the carnivals that we have in the states with food, overpriced games for the kids, and rides. The big difference is that they also have centers, like the one that my spanish parents belong to, that sponsor these big tents and everyone from the center comes and hangs out together. It is all very social and really cool! We had very typical tapas from Spain such as different types of ham and sausage, cheese, olives, papas fritas, and fresh bread. It was really good and then we ended up going to a Churreria/Chocolateria to have chocolate con churros which is one of my favorite things in Spain!

All in all, it was a wonderful 1st night in Spain!
